Tables may still be available. Please use the book now button to make a reservation. Reservations are only valid when confirmed by The Schoolhouse Restaurant and Hotel and deposits @ £ 25.00 per person at the time of reservation and full prepayment and meal choices latest  by 10 December 2019 have been received in full.

We have tables  available with arrival 11.30 hrs/ departure 14.30 hrs  or arrival 15.00/departure 18.00 hrs. 

Do advise dietary requirements at the time of reservation so we can provide substitutes as required. Our restaurant and bar will close at 7.00 pm to give our staff a Christmas at home. Please arrange for transport and taxis in advance. Taxis cannot be called on the day. 

In the event of cancellation before 10 December 2019 or earlier the deposit may be used in January 2020 when dining off our main menu. ( Maximum £ 25.00 deposit per person)

In the event of cancellation on or after 10 December 2019  50 %  of the total payment will be voided and the remaining 50 %  of the total payment may be used as a credit in January 2020 when dining off our main menu whilst staying overnight in our hotel. Note that credits are proportionate to the number of guests originally booked for Christmas day.

Taster

A little piquant “taster” of the chef’s choice to whet the appetite

 

Starter

Creamed tomato soup with basil, pine kernels, Welsh cheddar and bread fingers.

Courgette boats filled with spiced lentils, tomato & basil sauce. 

Crab & potato croquettes with dill, mustard and honey sauce.

House pate with Cumberland sauce & toasted brioche

Smoked salmon with blinis, silver onions, shallot and egg. 

 

In between

A selection of sorbets or a cup of fragrant vegetable bouillon.

 

Main courses

Turkey roulade,  honey glaze, smoked bacon jacket, herb & chipolata sausage stuffing with
turkey gravy and cranberry jelly.

Duck confit with apple, gammon and duck force meat on cider jus.

Roasted  venison, fruits of the forest and bacon jus

Rib eye of beef, beurre maître d’hôtel, béarnaise sauce, mushrooms & tomatoes.

Seafood roast; a selection of fish and shellfish on a root vegetable nest with parsley cream sauce. 

Salmon and spinach roulade, tarragon cream sauce.

Mushroom and herb  risotto, mushroom fritters, hard cheese shavings, basil and chestnut pesto.

Brandy laced Christmas pudding with brandy sauce.
Chocolate dessert of bavaroise, mousse and frozen amaretto parfait.
Fruits of the forest, lemon sponge and custard trifle laced with Grand Marnier
Rum and moscovado caramelised orange and raspberry sorbet.
